Glorified roadhouse grub. Forgotten parts of the order, when it was not even busy. Taste and quality that does not justify the price. Maybe for the 'old time' feel but not for the food.
Pros: chicken
Cons: service, fricook quality of the food.

The rolls ARE good. The wait is too long. The cuts of meat are ok, but not great. The fried chicken is not bad. For me the value is too low to detour off the freeway.

The rolls are to die for, everyone smuggles them home. Ignore the pasta it's subpar. The soups are good, the salads are standard but you are going for the steak which couldn't get any better. It's worth the drive. When my parents and my husband's parents wanted to get together to discuss our wedding this is where I took them, now they are addicted too. Make reservations or you will wait. It has a rustic look, don't let it scare you or the masses of people and the huge parking lot. I wish I could go there today. Don't be afraid to go in a huge group they can handle it. My Grandma had her 80th birthday dinner here and we had about 35 people with no problem.
Pros: Best steak in Utah
Cons: It's in Brigham city!

Maddox is a HUGE local favorite for some good reasons. The #1 draw for most I know is the rolls -they are fabulous, and they keep comin' with raspberry butter as long as you say you want more. Another specialty is the house-brewed root beer and sarsparilla. I recommend sarsparilla to the more adventurous - it's like root beer, but more potent with licorice flare. Maddox has rich homemade soups. My favorite main course item is the fried chicken. It is like no other for one very distinguishing reason - no greasy skin. As a chicken skin hater, I rejoice in being able to actually enjoy the crispy coating! Losing the skin does not sacrifice moistness - it's divine! Maddox desserts, including pies, cheesecake and homemade ice cream are praiseworthy. I've read bad reviews on the seafood cocktail, complaining about imitation krab - but I argue that it's really good - if you like imitation krab. Sometimes I add the optional chilled shrimp for a little extra. The green salad's good. Now that I've raved as many locals do, I'll give you proper warning on a few things to expect or avoid that aren't so favorable.... Don't get a steak here - any cut. They just don't do 'em right. Get the chicken, turkey steak, halibut, or, at lunch hours, roast beef. Expect to pay more. It's a lot of food. Don't expect quiet, elegant romance. It's a big, family-oriented ranch house. Expect noise and crowds. If you go on a Friday or Saturday (not recommended), expect to wait at least 30 minutes, unless you go earlier than 6:00. If they are particularly busy and you have a large party, they may suggest quicker seating at the neighboring Lodge. DO NOT accept the offer! The Maddox Lodge is the pits! They herd you into a huge, noisy banquet hall, give you a different menu with limited offerings, and have two waitresses try to serve your party as well as the neighboring giant party of noisy high school prom-goers. Gratuity is included at the Lodge, of course.
Pros: Heavenly rolls, delicious and hearty comfort food, unique drinks.
Cons: Crowds/wait, out-of-the-way location, noise, mediocre steaks.

Maddox, was, well, an experience. The food is VERY overpriced and nothing out of the ordinary. The menu is extremely limited, and the food is nothing to rave about. We did love the rolls, but it stopped there. If you're into fried chicken, we recommend driving a little bit north of the ranch house to the car hop service, which serves the exact same chicken and rolls for about half the price.
Pros: Comfortable atmosphere
Cons: High price for area, bland food

I love the Maddox eating experience! Starting with the Rolls and Cornbread, then right on through to the Main Course. That is usually the Fried Chicken for me. A few months ago, me and my wife went to Maddox for our Anniversary. On this particular trip the customer service was not quite up to par. I didn't want to say anything but my wife did, so we went up to the hostess and told her of our displeasure. The response was more than we could have hoped for! A sincere apology and a gift certificate later, we were happy as clams once again. If you have not been to Maddox yet, you better go. It's well worth the drive.
Pros: Wonderful food and service.
Cons: Prices are a little high.

I love this place! The food is ALWAYS good! It is always jammed with people and that tells how delicious the food is! The employees are always so nice! They make you feel special every time! You feel like you are being mothered! I travel out of my way to go to Maddox! Very inexpensive! I love all their food! Even their rolls are wonderful.Their chicken is superb! And, I don't even like chicken, but I LOVE Maddox chicken! Their drive thru is great!
Pros: Everything about Maddox is ABOVE AVERAGE!
Cons: I wish they had a place in Salt Lake City!

WOW! This is the restaurant of "down home cookin". Everything from cream soda, root beer, soups, dessert, and rolls... it's all home made and fresh each day! My personal favorite is the tender flavorful prime rib with gravy. But don't forget the unforgettable chicken that my Mother keeps coming back for. I recommend the raspberry butter on the mouth watering rolls. This small beautifully designed restaurant is great for the family or a fun evening with the spouse. Don't forget about your wedding, anniversary, or family reunion their logged lodge next door caters to them all! I recommend reservations, people travel from all over for this country cookin.

This was my second visit, I said after the first, I would never go back. I should of listened to myself and not all the raving reviews. My first visit I ordered the prime rib and requested it rare, I was told it only comes medium or well. Who cooks prime over 140 degrees? I ordered the top of madox a trio of there specialties, a fillet, a piece of fried chicken and fried shrimp. My steak was ok, nothing to write about though, the chicken was at best average and the shrimp, well don't ever order seafood 1500 miles from the ocean. I also asked for the seafood cocktail. What Seafood? It was imitation crab. I would consider that vist average execpt for the price. This place is not shy. And when I sent the seafood coctail back, no one cared. I just returned from dinner there again, one year has past. It was a horible experience. I spent all day reading reviews looking at the menu and talking to neighbors, all said good things. So I gave them a second chance. Big mistake. I ordered the 24oz T-bone rare, was served medium, could not even cut it with a knife, let alone chew it. My mother had the chicken fried steak, she tried to eat it but when I sampled it , it was extemely salty. My wife and kids had burgers. I only had three bites of my steak and refused the rest, hey but they only charged me half price for it. ( $13.00 for three horible bites ). If you think there reviews are a joke go to there web site and read there satisfaction guaranty under menu. It is make believe as well. I will never go there again. Do yourself this favor and take my advise, if you know anything about good food or enjoy a pleasent evening out, don't go.

I love this place. I have been eating here a couple times a year for the last five years. I agree with some of the other reviews that the steaks are not the best but that is not what you go to madoxx for. Madoxx has the best skinless fried chicken anywhere. The turkey steaks are my personal favorite. If you haven't ever had one then you should definatly make the trip. If you are looking for steak you might want to think about somewhere else but for chicken and excellent rolls and corn bread this is a great choice.
Pros: Turkey steak, Corn pones, Rolls, and Fried Chicken
Cons: Parking, and Closed Sundays, Don't take reservation.
