Depending on whether you feel comfortable with the crowd, Oasis Cafe can either be a very enjoyable experience, or a slightly irritating one. The food is really good, very pricey, and certainly worth it if you can put up with the obnoxious new-age pseudo-spiritual atmosphere that permeates it and the accompanying bookstore Golden Braid.
Pros: Good food, friendly service.
Cons: Slightly/very irritating atmosphere

I used to frequent Oasis cafe a few years ago and it was amazing. Atmosphere, food, and service was great. Something has happened. I've given this place a good 8 attempts to win me back this year, but every time I've been back I've been unimpressed. The most notable problem - poor service. If you read the other reviews, you'll see this complaint a lot. I haven't had a server ask how my food was once! I never get refills on my beverages. I always have to flag someone down to get the check. The food has gone downhill as well. My grilled potatoes in the Mediterranean Salad were raw in the middle. The salad completely overdressed. My food usually comes out cool, not hot. The worst part of it all is that I've written to the owners and never got any response from them. It's clear to me now (don't know why I gave them so many chances) that I'm not going to give them my business anymore.
Pros: Ambience, Patio dining, open on sundays
Cons: Terrible service, below average food, customers not valued

My boyfriend and I are new to Utah, and I was excited to find out about the Oasis Cafe. We are both liberal west-coasters, and this restaurant seemed to offer an evening of pretending we were back home. Yes, the atmosphere was serene and calming, and the service was friendly. But then the food arrived. We both ordered fish - I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the mahi mahi. The sauces and side dishes accompanying the fish were pretty good, but the fish was horrible. Rubbery. Very rubbery. If we hadn't paid $18 each, I don't think we would have attempted to actually eat it. What a mistake. We both had awful tummy aches all evening and into the next morning. While it may be nice to go to the Oasis Cafe and have a small salad or sandwich and then peruse the cute, new age bookstore, I would not recommend spending money on the dinner entrées.
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: Horrible rubbery fish, prices

Always phone for correct hours for any business listed here as citysearch is frequently inaccurate. Women seem to like this place more than men. Good Luck.
Pros: Impress your date
Cons: pricey

I love this place. I'm not sure about other reviewers. Place is always packed with seemingly pleased people. This is one of my new favorite spots.

My first dining experience at the Oasis was great. This was for dinner on mother's day. I returned today to treat a friend for her birthday and was embarrassed. The service was poor - we were ignored after being seated and after 15 minutes had to ask someone if we could get some water. The waitress was too busy setting up empty tables. Our waitress was grouchy and tried to rush us. The prices were high for such meager porportions - a small slice of dry toast, and maybe three bites of salmon on lettuce. The glasses were cloudy. The wine was excellent, but not even half full. When we ordered a second glass, we were told we drank the last two glasses they had, so tried a different selection which was stale. Neither of us could drink it. Will not return. Second glasses were old and we left them. Will not return.

Although the setting is pretty, the food defines mediocrity. The prices are really high, for example a $30.00 brunch, (plus they charge extra food coffee or soda) that features shrimp enchiladas made with canned shrimp, mushy pasta pesto salad, dry scrambled eggs without any seasonings etc. The service staff was great, no complaints, but the management leaves a lot to be desired. They tried to cram our party of 8 into a 6 place table setting and then insisted they didn't have any other tables available-well, except for the two next to the door not being used for the entire time we were there...hmmmm...Don't waste your money or time at this place, there are plenty other wonderful restaurants in Salt Lake that have much better food at a much more reasonable price and who are willing to help out families with young children.
Pros: Nice setting
Cons: Cost, quality of food, quality of management

I recently had one of the best dining experiences ever at the Oasis Cafe. First, I called just to see if they were open New Years day. They were, and when I asked if I needed a reservation, they said that I would not need one, but that they would be pleased to take one for me if I liked. My wife, two year old little girl and I arrived and we were seated right away, we did not need to ask for a booster seat either, it was offered. Our drink orders were taken promptly. I requested a glass of Champagne and some fresh cut limes on the side, no questions or weird looks, they just brought me what I requested. After my wife ordered for herself and our little one, I asked if I might deviate from the standard menu by combining the Crab Cakes with the Eggs Benedict instead of the Salmon. Our waiter was prompt to confirm with the manager and get my special order placed. I am a particular fan of Crab Cakes Benedict. These were the best Crab Cakes Benedict I have ever had! The Crab Cakes were the closest in flavor to real Maryland Lump Crab Cakes that I have had outside of Maryland. The hollandaise sauce was perfect.... Light with just the right amount of tanginess, not overly sweet and syrupy. My compliments to the chef. The atmosphere was delightful. We came in at about 12:30 PM. Fresh snow had fallen that morning and into the open patio south of the restaurant, between the restaurant and the bookstore on the other side. The sun gleamed over the snow and poured into the dining area through the south facing windows, giving the whole place a feeling of warmth on that clear winter day. Perhaps it was the sunlight refracting in to the room, but as I looked about the restaurant everyones eyes seemed to have a sparkle of happiness in them. I was overwhelmed with joy as I dined with my family and played peek-a-boo with my little girl at the table. I could not put a price on such a marvelous dining experience. -It was perfect.
Pros: Brilliant Ambience, Spectacular Food, Excellent Service, Properly Priced
Cons: Can't think of a single one

Oasis is horrible. The service was terrible, the food just as bad. I used to frequent this place years ago and it was quite good. I don't know what happened, but I would recommend avoiding it now. The waiter took forever to even notice us - then he brought water in dirty glasses. The food took forever to arrive, over 40 minutes, and then it was barely passable as food. The waiter then resumed ignoring us, never brought more water or even a check. Chipped plates were also used to serve food, a big no-no in the restaurant world. Eventually we wandered out and my friend went to Golden Braid to look around, while I tried to pay someone - I should've just left since nothing was worth paying for. Eventually someone at the front took my money. I recommend avoiding this place. What an awful experience. I don't know what happened to the old Oasis, or the old Golden Braid for that matter. They must be under new ownership, what a shame. Stay away.

I didn't like the oasis cafe. The actual building has potential, but the food was okay, the service was horrible. Our server came once to take our order, and once to bring our food, and that was it. We had to find someone to give us our check. I wanted to ditch. I haven't gone back since, and i will not go out of my way to do so. I did like the fact that they had such an extensive vegan and vegetarian menu, maybe that food is better than what we got?
Pros: The patio area is nice.
