Editorial Review for Kyoto Japanese Restaurant – by Jean Williams
The Scene
The grounds are carefully manicured and the interior has a pleasant atmosphere with paper lamps and individual booths. Service is attentive and unobtrusive.
The Food
The seafood appetizer consists of several jumbo shrimp, lightly battered and quickly deep-fried, served with a crispy haystack of tempura vegetables--onion, carrot and zucchini. If you're into raw fish, there's a sushi bar where you can dive in to the lunch special: four of four kinds of rolled nigiri. Or try a six-piece California roll. Kyoto is also known for its tempura--vegetables and seafood dipped in batter and fried to a crisp golden brown and served with tangy dipping sauce. Other specialties include chicken, beef or salmon teriyaki and sukiyaki.

Kyoto is SLC's BEST Japanese food, bar none. The friendly staff is extremely helpful, courteous, professional and attentive. The fish is the freshest in Utah. The steaks are phenomenal and are provided in generous portions. Other Japanese restaurants in SLC charge the sme price, for the same menu, but the quality and service can no even hope to compare to that of Kyoto. Don't expect to just "show up" and quickly get a table. You will need a reservation for this place and it is more than worth the effort. You have many choices for Japanese dining, but you will never go wrong with Kyoto.
Pros: Fresh, Yummy, great service!
Cons: You need a reservation most of the time.

I love this restaurant! The sushi is always fresh, the miso soup is always excellent, and even the soy sauce tastes like it was made with love. Before dinner I sometimes wish there was more parking, but tonight, for instance, we had to park like a block away and after dinner I was sad we hadn't parked even farther away, because it's so nice to walk after a delicious satisfying meal. You know what I mean?
